The Seiko Kinetic Scuba Pipin Series was introduced in the late 1990s in collaboration with Cuban-born world-champion freediver Francisco “Pipin” Ferreras. Created as a distinctive professional-style diving watch, the series combines Seiko’s Kinetic technology with an unconventional, marine-inspired design.
Its streamlined asymmetric case was shaped to evoke the form and movement of a dolphin, most noticeably in the fin-like projection on the left side. The aquatic theme continues with a dolphin emblem on the caseback, while Pipin Ferreras’ signature is engraved on the bracelet clasp. The vivid blue sunburst dial, sculpted bracelet and highly polished bezel give the watch a particularly recognisable late-1990s aesthetic.
This reference, 5M43-0D90, was produced as a limited edition of only 1,500 pieces. The present example is individually numbered 774/1500 and was manufactured in March 1998. It is powered by Seiko’s calibre 5M43, which converts the movement of the wearer’s wrist into electrical energy and stores it in a rechargeable cell. A push-button at 2 o’clock activates the power-reserve display, indicated by the movement of the seconds hand.
Complete examples are increasingly difficult to find, particularly in this exceptionally well-preserved condition with the original Pipin presentation box, documentation, bracelet links and factory protective film still present on the caseback.

Condition
This limited-edition Seiko is preserved in exceptional, near-NOS condition. The stainless steel case retains its sharp, distinctive shape and polished surfaces, with only very minor superficial storage or handling marks visible under close inspection. The original sculpted bracelet and signed clasp are similarly well preserved and show minimal evidence of use.
The blue sunburst dial is in flawless condition, retaining its vibrant colour and fine radial finish. The original crystal is clear and scratch-free, while the hands and applied hour markers display strong and even luminescence. The rotating bezel, crown, power-reserve button and day-date display all function correctly.
The original blue factory protective film remains attached to the caseback, further highlighting the watch’s remarkably preserved condition. The movement has been fitted with a new capacitor and is fully operational.
The watch is supplied as a highly complete collector’s set with its original Pipin presentation box, instruction manuals, Pipin card and spare bracelet links. The stated 200-metre water-resistance rating is the original factory specification; current water resistance has not been tested and cannot be guaranteed.
