Model History
The Eterna-Matic name represents one of the most significant chapters in Eterna's history. In 1948, the Grenchen manufacture introduced an automatic winding system in which the rotor was supported by five miniature ball bearings, substantially reducing friction and wear in the winding mechanism. The design became so closely associated with Eterna that the five ball bearings were adopted as the company's now-famous five-dot emblem.
Reference 107 IVT belongs to the generation of Eterna-Matic watches produced during the early to mid-1960s. Its restrained proportions, applied baton markers, framed date aperture and domed crystal are typical of the period, while the black dial gives this example a particularly strong appearance.
Inside is the Eterna calibre 1422 UD, an automatic movement with central seconds and date. It runs at 18,000 vibrations per hour and incorporates a quick-set date mechanism operated by repeatedly pulling the crown.

Condition
The watch is presented in attractive, honest vintage condition.
The black dial retains a strong glossy appearance and is complemented by applied baton hour markers, silver-tone hands and a framed date aperture at 3 o'clock. Light age-related patina is visible, particularly around some of the minute and luminous plots, but the overall appearance remains clean and well balanced.
The stainless-steel case shows normal signs of previous wear, including surface scratches and small marks, particularly around the bezel and lugs. Its original proportions and characteristic long, angular lugs remain clearly defined.
The domed acrylic crystal shows several minor scratches consistent with use, but remains clear and does not significantly affect legibility.
The watch is fitted with a new brown textile strap, giving the otherwise classic mid-century design a slightly more casual appearance.
The movement has not been serviced by us. According to the previous owner, it was serviced previously. We have checked the watch and it is currently running properly, with the automatic winding and date functions operating correctly.
The watch is supplied with a 6-month functionality guarantee.
As with any vintage watch of this age, water resistance is not guaranteed and contact with water is not recommended.
