Model History
The Seiko Lord Matic, often abbreviated as “LM”, was introduced in the late 1960s as one of Seiko’s refined automatic watch lines. Positioned above the standard Seiko 5 range but below the higher-end King Seiko and Grand Seiko models, the Lord Matic series offered a strong combination of elegant case design, reliable automatic movements, and practical everyday functionality.
This reference, 5606-5000, belongs to the earlier generation of Lord Matic models and was produced around 1970. It features the Seiko 5606 automatic calibre, a 23-jewel movement with automatic winding, hand-winding capability, hacking seconds, and a day-date display. The 56-series movements are well regarded among vintage Seiko collectors for their slim construction and dependable performance.
The 5606-5000 is especially attractive because of its compact tonneau-style stainless steel case and distinctive crystal, giving the watch a sharp architectural look typical of Seiko’s late-1960s and early-1970s design language. The navy blue sunburst dial adds depth and character, shifting beautifully under different light conditions.
